AMCHP advocates at the federal level for programs to improve the health of women, children and their families, including the Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Services Block Grant. AMCHP also provides a forum for state leaders to improve policy, systems, services and quality of care for MCH populations.
Our work is guided by AMCHP's Board of Directors and our Legislative and Health Care Finance Committee comprised of AMCHP members and partners. Our Policy & Advocacy pages are designed to provide you with resources and tools to be an effective advocate for state MCH programs.
AMCHP's Strategic Goal #1 is to be an effective voice to strategically communicate the critical importance of maternal and child health issues. We accomplish this goal in a number of ways.
Legislative & Policy Agenda
AMCHP's Strategic Plan includes developing and implementing an annual legislative and policy agenda. This agenda specifies key policy and advocacy activities for AMCHP.
National Center for Health Reform Implementation
AMCHP's National Center for Health Reform Implementation provides state maternal and child health leaders and their partners with the information, tools and resources to optimize the opportunities presented by the Affordable Care Act (ACA) for improving services, systems and health outcomes for MCH populations.
It is imperative that elected officials understand Title V and the unique needs of women, children and their families. This section is a resource to provide the tools and information to accomplish this goal. It includes the following: AMCHP's lobbying and advocacy activities, advocacy resources, and tools including funding charts on federal appropriations for MCH related programs. This section includes information on our Friends of MCH Coalition, a group of organizations committed to supporting federal MCH programs. It also includes a link to our Action Center, from which you directly contact your elected officials
