Special Events

Regional Baskets: An AMCHP Tradition — Each year, AMCHP conference attendees show their regional pride by bringing items that represent their state or region of the country. We compile these gifts into regional baskets and hold a drawing for these popular souvenirs of the AMCHP conference.

MacQueen Lecturship - Each year, AMCHP members nominate a leader in MCH to present the MacQueen lecture honoring John C. MacQueen, the former director of the Iowa Child Health Specialty Clinics. A pediatric neurologist, Dr. MacQueen was an advocate, innovator and educator on behalf of children with special health care needs. To submit nominations for the John C. MacQueen Lectureship and the Vince Hutchins Leadership Award click here. Award nominations must be received by Aug. 10.

Emerging Issue Roundtables: discuss emerging issues and network with your peers around priority areas in MCH

Goal 1: Provide an opportunity for state interaction and networking to share strategies and best practices within each noted topic

Goal 2:  Provide feedback to AMCHP and federal partners on higher level policy needs and technical assistance that would be helpful

Strategy for sharing best practices: On each table there will be “give and get best practice cards” so when a state shares a strategy or information on a program that another state wants, each will fill out a card  with their contact information  and the information requested as either the “giver” or “getter.”
