AMCHP Current Legislative Agenda

Just as you are a voice for the mothers, children and families you serve in your state, AMCHP is your voice in our nation’s capitol.  Together, we can actively advocate for public policies that strengthen our public health system, expand health insurance coverage to mothers and children, and provide resources for states to better serve MCH populations, including children with special health care needs.

AMCHP's 2008 Legislative Agenda includes the following priorities:

• Increase Title V MCH Block Grant Funding to $850 million
• Support Newborn Screening Legislation
• Support Universal Health Care Coverage and Access
• Protect Medicaid Funding and Repeal Harmful DRA Provisions
• Address Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities
• Advocate for Full Funding of the Preventive Health Services Block Grant
  
• Partner to Support Comprehensive Approaches to Chronic Disease, with emphasis on programs addressing the childhood obesity epidemic
• Support Efforts to Promote Safe Communities and Prevent Childhood Injuries
• Make Contraceptives More Affordable and Eliminate the Need for States to Seek Medicaid Family Planning Waivers
