AMCHP New Director Mentor Program
The AMCHP New Director Mentor Program matches seasoned MCH leaders with new state directors to help orient new directors to their roles. The program provides support for new director-mentor conference calls, a site visit to observe how a Title V program works in another state, and on-going training and professional development for new directors. For more information on the New Director Mentor Program, contact AMCHP staff, Librada Estrada at lestrada@amchp.org.
MCH Leadership Competencies
The latest version of the Maternal and Child Health Competencies, Version 3.0, is now available at http://leadership.mchtraining.net. As always, you can download the MCH Leadership Competencies as a PDF document or read the competencies directly on the website. This streamlined version decreases the number of competencies from 94 to 72 as the result of a modified Delphi Technique, a method of expert consensus that identified the competencies considered most important to MCH professionals. The competencies are organized under three categories, Self, Others, and Wider Community. The competencies represented in this version continue to be the result of an iterative and inclusive work-in-progress. Based on feedback from the field, the PDF of version 3.0 also includes a “clickable” table of contents by which you can navigate the document.
The MCH Leadership Competencies website has been updated and enhanced with an interactive web system for easier commenting and discussions. When you visit the site, you will find that the original content is faithfully maintained for your convenience, while the simplified commenting features make it easier to provide feedback and share how you are using the MCH Leadership Competencies.
You no longer need to create a user account and will be able to leave comments directly at the bottom of any of the web pages. Additional resources are included on the website including how others are using the Competencies. Please visit and share your story at: http://leadership.mchtraining.net.
