In mid-November, AMCHP staff members Cheryl Clark, Michelle
Eglovitch and Krista Granger facilitated the National Learning Network for
Perinatal and Infant Oral Health In-Person Learning Session in Baltimore. This
two-day meeting was coordinated by the Children’s Dental Health Project in
partnership with AMCHP, the National Improvement Partnership Network and the
Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors, and involved 16 state
grantees within the Perinatal
and Infant Oral Health Quality Improvement project.
In mid-November, Cheryl Clark attended the kickoff meeting of the
Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) ICD-10-CM Transition
Workgroup in Atlanta. The workgroup was convened to assess the quality of
morbidity data coding following transition from the Clinical Modification of
the 9th revision of ICD (ICD–9–CM) to ICD–10–CM. This transition in coding
classifications has significant implications for injury surveillance
(intentional and unintentional) and injury data resources. CSTE, the
National Center for Health Statistics, Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention and the Safe States Alliance are providing leadership and support to
this multijurisdictional workgroup.
