  • On Jul. 24, AMCHP hosted “Connecting the Dots: A National Meeting on Improving Birth Outcomes Initiatives” in Washington, DC. In attendance were leaders from various state MCH and Medicaid programs, federal agencies, professional associations and foundations. The objectives of the meeting were to briefly review and discuss key national and federal initiatives designed to improve birth outcomes, identify areas of connectivity, commonality and gaps in focus and goals, discuss and prioritize areas needing improved coordination to optimize and maximize collective impact at the federal, state and local levels, and, solidify the core elements of a common national framework, and collective strategies for advancing mutual goals. Proceedings from the meeting will be disseminated in the weeks to come, so stay tuned! This meeting was hosted with generous support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
  • On Aug. 1, AMCHP staff Lacy Fehrenbach participated in the ASTHO meeting Integrating Immunizations in Healthcare Settings which brought together leaders of state health departments and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology to identify benefits to providers for vaccinating women and to develop resources to be used by states seeking to expand access to immunizations for pregnant women.
