 On Your Behalf

AMCHP Working On Your Behalf

  • On Apr. 4, AMCHP staff Piia Hanson attended an issue briefing and panel discussion at the Joint Center entitled, Building a Healthy Economy: Creating Employment Equity and Opportunity. This briefing explored the issue of job creation in African American and Latino communities, from current employment rates among minorities to sectors that could help underserved groups get back to work. Findings from their new reports were presented: Further to Go: Job Creation in African American Communities and Infrastructure Investments and Latino and African American Job Creation.
  • On Apr. 7-8, AMCHP staff Millicent Bright, Piia Hanson and Megan Phillippi participated in the National Healthy Start Association 14th Annual Spring Conference in Washington, DC. This year, the conference theme was Moving Forward: Community Advocacy in an Era of Health Reform. AMCHP staff shared resources and information as exhibitors in the conference exhibition hall and connected with Healthy Start program staff and national partners throughout the conference events. Conference attendees especially appreciated AMCHP materials on the Affordable Care Act and the cost effectiveness of maternal and child health interventions as they were helpful in preparing for site visits to Capitol Hill.
