AMCHP Working On Your Behalf
- On Jul. 12, AMCHP staff Brent Ewig facilitated a workshop at the Annual Conference of the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) entitled “Should We or Shouldn't We: Planning for the Role of Public Health Agencies in Direct Service Provision Post Health Reform.” The session featured an open town hall-style discussion of the pros and cons of this issue guided by provocative questions to facilitate dialogue among public health officials and share perspectives on the fundamental issue of the role of local health departments in providing safety-net services.
- On Jul. 23, AMCHP staff Carolyn Mullen attended a meeting hosted by HHS to discuss outreach and enrollment of populations into the health insurance exchanges. HHS is in the preliminary stages of developing their strategies and is soliciting information and feedback from numerous stakeholders.
- On Jul. 23-24, several AMCHP staff participated in the MCHB Collaborative Improvement & Innovation Network (COIN) to Reduce Infant Mortality, which is currently supporting efforts to improve birth outcomes and reduce infant mortality in regions IV and VI. AMCHP CEO Michael Fraser moderated a town hall session and Lauren Raskin Ramos and Brent Ewig are serving as COIN strategy team staff for this initiative.
