AMCHP Working On Your Behalf
- On Nov. 29, AMCHP staff hosted a webinar on State Models in Advancing Preconception Health Screening Tools. Presenters included Merry-K Moos of the University of North Carolina, Linda Archer of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Alisa Olshefsky of the Delaware Division of Public Health, and Susan Noyes of the Delaware Healthy Mother and Infant Consortium. The webinar provided an overview of preconception screening tools and highlighted the efforts of several states in developing and advancing preconception health screening. The presenters discussed the roles of state MCH and other key stakeholders (e.g. local health departments, community health centers and providers) in the design, development, dissemination and financing of preconception health screening tools.
- On Dec. 8, AMCHP staff members Tegan Callahan and Piia Hanson attended the Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Prematurity Symposium, Prematurity: Emerging Science Shows the Promise of Prevention, to hear presentations on cutting-edge clinical research and participate in round table discussions on the implications of this research in public health practice communities working toward improved birth outcomes.
