The next event in the All-Member National MCH Policy Call Series will take place on Sept. 7 from 2-3:30 p.m. ET.

Bipartisan ACA Proposals Begin to Emerge
Since the Senate’s failure on July 28 to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, several bipartisan ACA reform efforts have emerged in both the House and Senate. In the House, the new Problem Solvers Caucus released a plan for five proposals that combine Democratic and Republican priorities. The Senate HELP Committee plans to hold bipartisan hearings in September on how to stabilize and strengthen the individual market. The panel will hear from insurance commissioners, insurance companies, governors, healthcare and health policy experts, and consumers. It hopes to craft a bipartisan, short-term proposal by mid-September. [more]

Nearly half of U.S. counties lack a practicing OB-GYN, and the shortage is expected to grow. Maternity workforce shortages and maldistribution are of particular concern for the Medicaid program.
