Johnson, Crear-Perry Lead Maternal Mortality Discussions at AMCHP 2019

Charles S. Johnson IV and Joia Crear-Perry will lead powerful discussions on combating maternal mortality at the opening session of AMCHP 2019.
Johnson will deliver a keynote on "A Family's Perspective on the Tragedy of Maternal Mortality." Johnson is the founder of 4Kira4Moms, a nonprofit named after his wife, who died shortly after giving birth, and dedicated to changing systems to better prevent birth-related deaths.
Dr. Crear-Perry, founder and president of the National Birth Equity Collaborative, will deliver an address, "Birth Equity and Maternal Health: Where Do We Stand?", then moderate a panel discussion about collective investments to improve maternal health. Joining her on the panel will be Johnson; Dr. Manda Hall, associate commissioner of the Community Health Improvement Division in the Texas Department of State Health Services; and Janet Jones, the lead public health education specialist for the Waco-McLennan County Public Health District in Texas.
