Government Funding Update
On Feb. 15, President Trump signed into law a $333 billion spending package to fund several government agencies through the end of fiscal year 2019. The seven-bill spending package included funding for all agencies that had not yet received full-year funding for fiscal 2019, including the Department of Agriculture, Food and Drug Administration, Indian Health Service, Environmental Protection Agency, and Department of Housing and Urban Development. The measure averted another partial government shutdown.
With the completion of the appropriations process for fiscal 2019, Congress will now turn its attention to appropriations for fiscal year 2020. AMCHP will be urging Congress to appropriate $698 million to the Title V Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant for fiscal 2020. This would be a $20.3 million (3 percent) increase over the Title V fiscal 2019 funding level of $677.7 million.
