Health Leaders Urge Agencies: Youth and Adolescent Health Staff Should Attend AMCHP 2019
National leaders in maternal, child, and adolescent health are urging state agencies to send youth as well as adolescent health coordinators to the AMCHP Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas, in March 2019.
AMCHP Board President Susan Chacon wrote a letter encouraging state agencies and programs to send their youth leaders (and future leaders of maternal and child health) to the conference, saying that they can not only learn from other programs, but interact with and teach the adult champions how to build their capacity as well.
The National Network of State Adolescent Health Coordinators crafted a 10-point explanation of why adolescent health coordinators should attend the AMCHP conference. Reasons include that adolescent health is not only a focus of the conference but is also an integral part of public health, as states that invest in the health of young people are investing in the future of their citizens and communities. In addition, the Title V Block Grant National Performance Measures include adolescent health.
