Join the New MCH Policy Call Series
As Congress starts moving to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, AMCHP will host a monthly National MCH Policy Call series to regularly provide our members with the latest information. The series will also foster dialogue on how state MCH leaders can best navigate the changing health policy landscape. The first call in the series is on Feb 2 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. ET. Please mark your calendar for subsequent calls on March 2, April 6, May 4 and June 1, all scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET.
President Trump Issues Executive Order Regarding Affordable Care Act
On Jan. 20, President Trump issued an executive order that would effectively give the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) as well as any other relevant agencies the discretion to waive, defer, grant exemptions or delay implementation of ACA provisions that are deemed to impose a fiscal burden on states, individuals, health care providers, purchasers of health insurance, and manufacturers of medical devices or medications. See the full text of the executive order here.
The executive order is fairly vague and AMCHP will continue to analyze possible repercussions, particularly as they relate to MCH populations, as the nominees to head the relevant departments and agencies slowly take their offices. We will discuss this in further depth during our upcoming national policy call on Feb. 2.
