AMCHP Urges Congress to Focus on CYSHCN
AMCHP was joined by Family Voices and the Association of University Centers on Disabilities in a letter urging House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone and Ranking Member Greg Walden to address issues of importance to children and youth with special health care needs, including those with disabilities, during upcoming hearings. The two hearings are set to focus on the implications of the multi-state lawsuit against the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the care of immigrant children who were separated from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border.
In the letter, the three organizations point to the particular impacts of losing certain protections afforded by the ACA as well as the need to pay special attention to supports for children with complex health needs and/or disabilities who are being cared for by the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Refugee Resettlement.
