Health and Human Services Proposes Changes to Title X Regulations
On May 22 the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a draft proposed rule to revise its regulations for the Title X Family Planning Program. The proposed rule would make ineligible for Title X funding any clinic that provides abortions or refers patients to health care providers that offer abortion-related services. In effect, the rule would exclude organizations like Planned Parenthood from participating in the Title X program.
AMCHP staff are reviewing the proposed rule and its potential impact on access to care for maternal and child health populations. As detailed on page two of the proposed rule, HHS invites public comments on the proposal, which must be received within 60 days after the date that the proposed rule is published in the Federal Register.
